2020

Arturo Rodriguez was selected to participate in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution ’s Pandemic Oral History Project, a series of 85 interviews of American artists and world figures living and working through the seismic events of 2020.

This dedicated collection gives voice to the arts community during one of the most turbulent periods in modern history, a time in which many cultural institutions have been forced to temporarily or permanently close, radically reshaping relationships between artists and the public.

1999

Since 1999 the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art has been collecting ARTURO’S & DEMI primary records (correspondence, notebooks, drawings, photographs, catalogues).

1995

Arturo Rodriguez created the cover artwork for the legendary Cuban double bassist, Israel Lopez (Cachao)’s /Grammy Award-winning CD “Cachao” Master Sessions vol. L, on Crescent Moon label for Sony Records.

1996

1990

Arturo Rodriguez was interviewed in the BBC documentary “HAVANA”, filmed by Jana Bokova, in where Rodriguez chats about his childhood and about the ironies of his life in exile.

1987

Arturo Rodriguez was commissioned by Florida International University, Miami, Florida, to paint “Exiles” (Exiliados) to be presented to Pope John Paul II , as official gift during his visit to the Florida State. Also from this painting a poster was created.

1981

Arturo Rodriguez was commissioned by the City of Miami, to paint “Homage to the Afro-Cuban Music”, a three piece Mural, (8’ x 24’ foot long) to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Week. The Mural was placed on top of Libros Españoles, S.A.’ store, on SW 19 Avenue and 8th Street.
